Dear Retired/Retiring Educator:
My name is Diana Griffin and I am the President of the New Hampshire Retired Educators Association (NHREA). I am writing to you to ask that you consider joining NHREA.
Since it was established in 1952, the NHREA has worked closely with NEA-NH on retirement issues. This close bond was established because there is no retired educator group within NEA-NH. Retired NEA-NH members are represented on the NEA-NH Board of Directors and may vote in NEA-NH elections. They also serve on NEA-NH committees, but NEA-NH has chosen to partner with the NHREA to double the impact of our voices.
It is a coalition which ha worked very well for many decades.
Eligibility for NHREA membership requires that you be a retired NH educator--regardless of your job classification It also includes administrators. Being advocates for public schools and education does not end when we leave our schools. You know the challenges facing retired educators and NHREA exists for you.
NHREA is the state association of the National Retired Teachers Association. In turn, NRTA falls under the umbrella of AARP. Our affiliation with AARP gives retired educators a voice on a wide variety of retiree issues which include, Social Security, caregiving, fraud, Medicare, prescription drugs, and housing needs.
While maintaining a non-partisan footing, AARP and NRTA serve as our watch dog on issues facing the 50+ population They work with state-based Retired Educators Associations (RTA)--such as the NHREA--exclusively on retiree issues.
I am asking that you consider joining with your colleagues by becoming a member of NHREA. A downloadable membership form is located below.
Sincerely,
Diana Griffin
President NHREA
Executive Council Member AARP
