New Hampshire Retirement Organizations For Educators New Hampshire school retirees have access to two statewide groups as well as local chapters. NEA-New Hampshire Retired is open to NEA New Hampshire active members. Members have access to the same benefits that active members have access to. These include, but are not limited to, liability insurance (if the member works in a school system), Member Benefits program, car/house insurance recommended by NEA, workshops offered by NEA New Hampshire, etc.
NHREA (New Hampshire Retired Educator Association) is open to anyone who was involved in education. These members include teachers (both NEA-New Hampshire and AFT members), administrators, support personal, etc. This group is affiliated with NRTA (National Retired Teachers Association) and AARP. This is the group that lobbies at the State House to protect and advance pension benefits.
Local groups are affiliated with NHREA. There are 19 units statewide. Most are open to educators who either taught in the area or live in that area. The leadership of these units serves on the NHREA Executive Board as well as NHREA committees.
The leadership of NEA-New Hampshire Retired and NHREA work closely together and serve on the same statewide coalition. The leadership also serves on committees with the leadership of AFT.
